Engage your students in learning about landforms and bodies of water by having them apply their knowledge of these landforms and bodies of water to create a project… LANDFORM ISLAND! This creative social studies project is a hands-on geography activity perfect for your learners.
What is the Landforms Project:
Students will work alone or in groups to research 24 different landforms and bodies of water, draft a plan for their landform island, write all about their landform island and publish a poster of their islands. Islands will include as many landforms and bodies of water as possible. Students will brainstorm different animals, plants and other features that would be located near various landforms and bodies of water on various parts of their landform islands.
Landforms Project Timeline:
This Landform Island social studies project takes between 5-10 days to teach, depending on your class.
- Days 1-4 Research Landforms
- Days 5-8+ Let Students Plan and Create Landform Island
- Days 9+ Allow Students to WRITE about Landforms and Bodies of Water on Islands
