Why Are There TWO of Each Grammar Worksheet:
There are two versions of each grammar worksheet because teachers are BUSY. You can use one as your whole group grammar lesson, then use the same activity for independent work, small groups or centers. Students will know exactly what to do, as you’ve already done it as a class, and all of the problems will be fresh. These can also make great homework worksheets or extra practice pages. Timeline for Year Phonics Curriculum and Spelling Activities:
Each skill is intended to be practiced during a full week of school. Personally, I skip any short weeks and use these for review or for extra pages we might have missed. Some skills may be harder than others and might require repeated activities.
Will These Activities REALLY Work with both 1st and 2nd Grade Students?
Most grammar activities for 1st and 2nd grade have many overlapping standards. 1st graders may require more help (i.e. reading aloud some of the problems) whereas most 2nd graders should be able to complete most activities independently.
Why There are Grammar WORKSHEETS and Not Centers?
TIME! As much as we’d all love to have fun whole group grammar games and fun grammar centers each day, teachers simply do not have the time. These 1st and 2nd grade grammar worksheets are designed with the busy teacher in mind.
