Ideas for Use:
Read aloud one of your favorite Thanksgiving books each day. Then, have students practice reading comprehension by writing a summary about the book you read. Afterward, let students create a simple and cute craft for each book. These Thanksgiving activities make great bulletin boards or hallway decor during the fall months.
Suggested Daily Timeline:
- 5-10 minute Thanksgiving read aloud (or have students listen to the Thanksgiving read aloud on Epic, YouTube, Vooks or any other site your school has access to!)
- 5-10 minute OPTIONAL time to use reading comprehension graphic organizers
- 10+ minute writing story summaries & making the daily Thanksgiving craft
- OPTIONAL – grading or hang as a fun Thanksgiving bulletin board to show off their reading comprehension skills
